McAlister-Smith is now collecting retired flags to honor deceased veterans.
The Stars and Stripes are a symbol of our freedom and a reminder of the sweat, blood and tears that it took to build this country.
Just like us all, the flag has a life-span and every flag should be decommissioned honorably. Your retired American flags which are no longer suitable for display will honor a fallen veteran by being draped across their coffin at the time of cremation.
Flag donations may be dropped off at the McAlister-Smith Chapels in West Ashley, Goose Creek, James Island and Mt. Pleasant.
For more information please call (843)722-8371. Retired United States flags may be donated to the McAlister-Smith Flag Retirement Program at any time.
