Cremation
A Personal Choice
The New Tradition
Some people think that choosing cremation means they cannot have a traditional funeral service. If you are considering this option, please discuss it with us. At McAlister-Smith, we offer several choices in complete commemorative services that include cremation instead of traditional interment. They are priced to fit every family’s budget. And, since we own and operate our own crematory, all services are handled by our trained and licensed staff.

Can I Still Have A Funeral?
When you choose cremation, you may also choose exactly the type of service you desire. There are no standard procedures or expectations, so your decisions may reflect your family’s preferences, traditions, and religious beliefs.

After the Service
.
Following the cremation and memorial service, your family must decide on the final disposition of the cremated remains. We offer three dignified choices.
• Permanent Possession. The family may decide to keep the cremated remains in an attractive urn.
|
• Burial or entombment. Cremated remains may be interred in the traditional fashion, or placed in a columbarium niche, which is similar to a mausoleum crypt.
|
• Scattering. You may decide to scatter the cremated remains in a memorial park, or a place that was particularly meaningful to the deceased. One of our Cremation Service Plans offers a burial at sea option or the Eternal Reefs® option.
We are here to help, and to explain the many choices you have with today’s cremation traditions. |

Transportation Authority Funeral Home Partner
McAlister-Smith Funeral Home has partnered with the Transportation Authority to offer a complimentary "Remains Transfer Service" which allows a family member who is traveling with the remains of the deceased to obtain a temporary "security friendly" container for transporting the remains via air travel. The traveling family member may choose to purchase a permanent container, as well. Once the traveler reaches his/her final destination, they may contact their local TSA Funeral Home Partner and have the remains transferred free of charge.
