Beatrice Mitchell Lucie of Summerville, SC passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018. She was born January 20, 1938 in Bronx, NY. Bea is survived by her husband of 26 years, Joseph C. Lucie; her children Chuck (Mary) Mitchell, Patti Mitchell (Shawn McKelvie), Laura Mitchell, Brian (Gena) Mitchell, and her grandchildren Justin, Katie, CJ, Paxton, Mitchell, Brendan, Maddie, Devin and Emily.
She is preceded in death by her former husband Charles Mitchell and her parents Joseph L. and Beatrice Geiger.
Bea was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, West Ashley, Charleston, SC. Bea retired as a medical records supervisor from St. Luke Institute, Adelphi, MD.
Bea was generous, thoughtful and kind. She was devoted to her family and especially to her grandchildren. Giving back to the community was important to Bea as was evidenced by her many years of volunteer service to Harvest Free Medical Clinic, and Nativity Church School, Charleston, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Devenio, Inc. a nonprofit founded by members of Bea’s Family in honor of her granddaughter, Devin who has Down syndrome. Devenio provides programs and events for individuals with disabilities and their families. A memorial service and interment will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday. August 13, 2018 at Sacred Heart chapel (up the hill), 16501 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715. A reception will follow at the parish hall (down the hill, under the main church).
