Betty Cannady Hunter

Betty Cannady Hunter, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina died peacefully in her sleep with her family beside her at her family home on Sunday, July 15, 2018.

She was born on February 13, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Walter and Frances (Watson) Cannady. Betty loved life and playing BINGO, listening to music and spending time in the yard admiring nature around her. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her special loves, her great-grand children, who called her GG. Her grandchildren had the honor of simply calling her "Betty".

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Karen Perkins (Tom) and Phyllis Cooper (Butch); grandchildren, Butch Cooper, Jr. (Kristen), Jennifer C. Perry (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Ella (Tootie) Perry, Liza Grace Cooper, and Emersyn Perry. She also leaves behind extended family members and special friend Georgia Lacson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry K. Hunter and her 3 brothers, Walter K. Cannady, Francis Watson Cannady, and John (Big John) H. Cannady.

The family would like to thank Chandler Brown for her wonderful and loving care for their mother. They also want to thank PHC for their support when Betty went home. A special thank you goes to Virginia Chaplin and all the wonderful staff and nurses with Lutheran Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 10:30 AM until 12 Noon at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island.

The Celebration of Life Service will be at Noon, immediately following the visitation at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, James Island, South Carolina.
