James E. Cook

James E. “Gene” Cook, 71, of Summerville, passed away May 24, 2017.
Born in Charleston, he was the son of the late James and Edna Cook. James worked for thirty four years at Doscher’s Grocery in North Charleston. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, wrestling and watching NASCAR with his nephew, Sammy. James was loved by his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Shaw of Ladson and Helen Fischer of Bellville, IL. Gene was also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
