June B Swanson

June Swanson, 91, of Hanahan, South Carolina, passed away October 10, 2017 at her home in Hanahan, with family by her side.
She was born on February 23, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Anker and Ivey Peterson.
June graduated from the University of Minnesota and practiced as a Registered Nurse. Over several decades, she worked in both obstetrics and tuberculosis sanitariums. In addition, she worked side by side with her husband for many years in the family bakery.
She was a talented musician and most recently served as the children’s pianist at Messiah Lutheran Church.
An eternal optimist, June always looked on the bright side of life. Her faith was a guiding light to her.
June was thankful for her children, her family, her husband and the ones that she loved.
June is survived by her children, Michael (Sheryl) Swanson of Carmel, IN, Mary Swanson (Larry Rathbun) of Silverton, OR, Marty (Terri) Swanson of Littleton, CO and Marcia Swanson of Hanahan, SC; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard LeRoy Swanson.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, located at 1106 Yeamans Hall Rd., Hanahan, SC 29410.
Burial will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
