Marsha Huck Korpanty

September 16, 1947 — July 15, 2018

Marsha Huck Korpanty, 70, of Edisto Island, South Carolina passed away on July 15, 2018.

She was born on September 16, 1947 in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Mary Rudinsky Huck and the late Frank Huck.

A sailing enthusiast, nature-lover, and devoted mother and wife of over fifty years, Marsha left behind a forty-one-year career as a teacher and school psychologist in Charleston and Dorchester Counties to retire to Edisto Island.

While on Edisto, she was the instigator and motivator in many projects. She received recognition for her “Dress a Girl” local project during the 2016 Convention of the International Order of the Kings’ Daughters and Sons. Over 700 hand-made dresses were sent to national headquarters for distribution world-wide. She was also an avid quilter, and spent many hours making gorgeous quilts for family and friends, which will be cherished.

Marsha ably served as secretary for the Edisto Women’s Club and modeled in their Fashion Shows. In 2012, she represented the Whatsoever Circle of King’s Daughters at the New Horizons Program in Chautauqua, New York. Perhaps most importantly, she served as secretary of the Women’s Guild at St. Frederick and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and continuously performed, without notice, numerous duties.

Besides her parents, Marsha is preceded in death by her brother Charles DeMarco.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Kenneth Korpanty of Edisto Island, SC; daughter, Rachel Korpan Lee (Andrew) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Rebecca Vincent (Charlie) of Edisto Island, SC; brother, Bill Huck (Tara) of Dobbs Ferry, NY; sister, Elizabeth Petito of Carolina Shores, NC; and six beloved grandchildren: McKee, Jacob, Nicholas, Henry Huck, Charlotte, and Victoria.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 19th from 6pm until 8pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley.

A Mass in her honor will be held at 11am on Friday, July 20th at St. Frederick and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 544 Highway 174, Edisto Island, SC 29438.

Marsha dedicated her life to helping other people, and she fought this horrible disease up until the very end. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to The National Brain Tumor Society to help others.
