Roy Daniel Ferrell, Sr.
August 2, 1952 — August 31, 2018
Roy Daniel “Danny” Ferrell, Sr. of Mount Pleasant, SC went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 31, 2018.
He was born on August 2, 1952 to his (late) parents, Thomas Reese and Hazel Ferrell. He was the youngest of four sons. He is survived by his favorite people on the planet…his wife of 47 years, Jill; his daughter: Danielle (Ted) of Mount Pleasant, SC; and his son: Roy, Jr. (Marina) of Charlotte, NC. His heart belonged to his grandchildren: Summer, Dimitri, Anna B and Roy, III.
Danny spent his career in the Heavy-Duty Truck Parts Industry. He sold any part that would sit still long enough to be sold. He loved working in the industry and because he was a relationship builder, he made many friends through work. He turned many of his friends into family. He was honest, hardworking and never had a cross word to say about anyone.
He was a life-long learner and had a knack for “random nuggets” of knowledge. He read encyclopedias for fun and never met a newspaper he didn’t like. He was a big fan of history and could answer any question Jeopardy could come up with, especially about past presidents. He loved cheap-o lottery scratch off tickets, even though he never won. He loved to feed people and always made sure that you ate well when he was around. He was one of the good guys. With a dry sense of humor and sarcastic wit, he was funnier than most. He was loved deeply by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. We know that he is in Heaven playing some golf and enjoying the “all you can eat bacon buffet.”
The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Hospice of Charleston, especially Lisa and Miss Barbara; and McAlister Smith, especially Mark and Ben. Know that you are doing God’s work and we are so grateful that you were chosen to take care of him and our family.
