Alice C. Magda (Collins)

Alice C. Magda, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 with her friends and family by her side. She was born on Sunday, July 31, 1932 in Maxton, NC to the late Mrs. Emma Jane Collins and the late Mr. Willie Lee Collins. Alice graduated in 1950 from Pembroke High School and then graduated in 1954 from Montreat College with a BS in home economics. She later earned her MS degree in Nutrition from Clemson University. Go Tigers! Alice was very passionate about serving in education and started as a Home Economics teacher at Moultrie High School. Eventually was promoted to Principal at Laing Middle School and later became the Director of Food Services for Charleston County School District. She enjoyed her career, spending time with her grandchildren, church friends, and helping others. Alice helped in establishing the “Nurture Program” and served on various boards at Hibben United Methodist Church. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Michele Darley (Dana), of High Point, NC and Stephanie Renee Baum (Jeff), of Sugar Hill, GA; four grandchildren, Grayson Baum, Taylor Baum, Kevin Darley and Mitchell Darley; sister-in-law, Betty Collins, of Maxton, NC and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband of 47 years, Edward Frank Magda. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. A Funeral Service will be held at Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464 on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 12:30 PM with Dr. Ray Litts officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her honor to Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, or The Alzheimer’s Association, 2090 Executive Hall Rd # 130, Charleston, SC 29407.
