Allen Byers

Allen L. Byers, 79, of Ladson, SC, formally of Evansville, IN, passed away August 22, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 16, 1942, in Terre Haute, IN, the son of the late John and Marie Byers. He was also proceeded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Carol A. Byers in 2017 and his brother Larry Byers.

He graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute, IN.in 1960. After he moved to Evansville, he joined the Evansville Police Department where he served bravely and faithfully for 20 years. Following his retirement, he attended Roanoke Bible College in Elizabeth City, NC. Upon graduation he was ordained and served at a church in NC, then in Chesapeake, VA. In 2006, he and Carol moved to Ladson, SC to pastor New Beginnings Christian Church. He faithfully served there for 15 years. He loved and was loved by the congregation.

He is survived by his daughter Debi (Bret) Rauscher, sons Brad (Amy) Byers, Darren (Kristan) Byers, Carl (Sara) Battiger and Cindy (John) LaCava, grandchildren, Joshua and Joseph Rauscher, Brandon Battiger, Taylor, Zachary, Aaron and Catherine Battiger,, Lauren, ,Zachary and Nicholas Byers, John, Darian ,Michael, Embree and Caroline Byers. He is also survived by his brother Jerry Byers of SC.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at New Beginnings Christian Church in Ladson, SC with Jeff Riedel presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Beginnings Christian Church 10054 US-78, Ladson, SC 29456.
