Anna Ramsey Falls

Anna Louise Ramsey Falls, 93, crossed over peacefully at the Hospice Center, Hospice of Charleston, late Wednesday evening, April 23, 2014. Anna was born on March 14, 1921, in Brush Fork, WV, to the late Isom Henderson and Flora Shumate Ramsey, and grew up in a large family of loving brothers and sisters. Anna was married to Telford Paxton Falls for 57 years, who predeceased her in 1995. Together, they had three surviving children: Gerry Phillips of Seabrook, SC; Dr. Darryl Falls and his wife ,Nini, of Morehead City, NC; Jacqueline Falls and “adopted daughter” , Laurie Gablehouse, of Houston, TX. She also leaves additional loving family, 6 grandchildren: Lisa Diorio and her husband, Vincent, of NJ; Nina Hike and her husband, Aaron, of VA; Sharon Baldwin and her husband, Mark, of MD; Susan Murphy and her husband, Martin, of MA; Laurel Tingley and her husband, Chris, of VA; and William Falls and his wife, Jenn, of VA; nine great-grandchildren: Amy Boucher, David Catherman, Joel Stephanian, Raymond Murphy, Shannon Murphy, Jack Murphy, Helen Tingley, Anna Tingley, Emily Tingley; two great-great-grandchildren: Cody Myer and Corinne Boucher; one brother, Jack Ramsey of Calistoga, CA; nine nieces and nephews from across the country. Anna’s life was devoted to making a wonderful home and taking care of her family. She also spent many years as a church volunteer, especially as a Sunday School Teacher. She worked with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and as a nursing home volunteer. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and never met a stranger. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in a small country cemetery in WV, where she will be joining her husband, Telford. The family would like to give special thanks to Mom’s caretakers and friends at Chardon Place Assisted Living on Johns Island and the special staff at Hospice Center, who took loving care of both her and her family.
