Billy Gene Kent

Mr. Billy Gene Kent, 75, of Cary, NC, died on Friday, August 1, 2014 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Billy was born on March 30, 1939 in Cary, NC to Will A. and Lillie Culpepper Kent. He was a retired nuclear service engineer with Westinghouse. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Christie Anne Starr Kent, of 51 years prior to her death in 2011. Billy loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, always available and active in their lives. He was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed by his family, including his son; David P. Kent and his wife Minou of Mount Pleasant, SC; his two daughters, Jean K. Witt and her husband Joe of Manning, SC and Dana K. Gepford and her husband Doug of Mount Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren, Christopher M. Gamble, Emily K. Gepford, Caroline E. Gepford, Alexandra C. Kent, and Hanna W. Kent, and great grandson, Brantley T. Gepford. Two brothers; Gary Kent and his wife Mary Kent, and Garnet Kent of all of Cary, NC. He was pre-deceased by his one sister; Bernice Lasater, one brother; Gladstone Kent, One grandson, Phillip B. Gamble. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation from 5 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, with a vigil service beginning at 5 PM, at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of South Carolina, 44-A Markfield Drive, Charleston, SC 29407 or Roper Saint Francis Hospice, 1483 Tobias Gadson Blvd, Suite 208A, Charleston, SC 29407.
