Delores Myatt ''Mama'' Stratos (Myatt)

Delores Myatt Stratos, “Mama”, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, having enjoyed a wonderful life and great joy. She was born on Tuesday, April 17, 1928, in Charleston, SC, to the late Thelma Gruber Myatt and the late Richard Patrick Murphy Myatt. Delores attended Memminger High School and Rice Business College. During her youth, she loved playing first base on a softball team and roller skating around town, being the tomboy that she was. After raising her five children, she returned to work at the Navy Yard as a bookkeeper at the Supply Center, where she retired. Delores will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother to her five children. Along with her parents, Delores is preceded in death by her husband, Demetrios John “DJ” Stratos; her beloved grandfather, Joseph Kershaw Gruber; her brothers: Richard and Frank Ravenel Myatt; her sister, Pat Myatt Gordon; her dear nephew, John “Jay” Hickman; and her beloved grandson, Charles William Stephenson, III “Stevie”. She is survived by five children: Deborah Stratos Misoyianis of Houston, TX; John Demetrios Stratos (Joan) of Yemassee, SC; Lois Stratos of Charleston, SC; Milton Demetrios Stratos (Eva) of Sullivans Island, SC; and Mary Stratos-Griffin of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren: Genevieve Stratos, Milton Stratos II, John Misoyianis and Mary Elizabeth Griffin; one great-grandchild, Ariana Stratos Lane; her nephews: Michael & Ricky Myatt; her nieces: Pat Myatt Harder and Merry Myatt; and special family friend, Ann Stone Hall, whom “Mama” referred to as her fourth daughter. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2014, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road in West Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 Saint Teresa Drive, Charleston, SC 29407 on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 11:00 AM with Father Joseph Romanoski officiating.
