Diane Ewer Obituary
Diane Taylor Ewer Harrison, 75, of Charleston, SC, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 14th, 2021 at Roper Hospice Cottage in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Diane was born on February 4th, 1946 in Weston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Taylor) Ewer. She graduated from Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, MA in 1964. After high school, she attended Colby Junior College in New London, NH, and graduated in 1966.

After college, Diane married Charles Morris Harrison, Jr at St Julia's Catholic Church in Weston, MA before settling in Duxbury, Ma. She worked at WATD radio station in Plymouth, MA for several years initially as a bookkeeper working her way up to Project Manager while raising her two children. In 1992, she moved to Charleston, SC, where she worked as an Assistant Project Manager for Gulf Stream Construction and then The Lisi Company until her retirement.

Diane loved the water; she was happiest when she was sailing her sunfish or strolling the beach looking for seashells and beach glass. She loved to ride the waves with her kids and grandkids and could spend hours at the beach enjoying the sun, surf, and sand. Tuna fish sandwiches with a touch of sand in them and green grapes were a staple for lunch at the beach. She was an avid bird watcher and would go to great lengths to ensure the birds got every bit of their seed, and that those pesky squirrels did not get a morsel. She loved to work in her garden and yard, and when in Duxbury, maintained a large vegetable garden. She loved hydrangeas, peonies, and roses, and had a small rose garden in Charleston which she tended to often; Mr. Lincoln was one of her favorites. When her children were young, she would often make clothes for them, and even made a few Halloween Costumes, including the cutest little bunny costume you've ever seen. She was an accomplished seamstress and could knit and needlepoint as well. She even reupholstered several pieces of furniture in her home. Later in life, she discovered her artistic ability and loved to draw and paint. Her children were amazed at her talent and are lucky enough to have her framed artwork their homes. She loved to sing and enjoyed her choir at The Lowcountry Senior Center on James Island; she also enjoyed the art classes and chair yoga at the center, as well as her many friends there. She loved to go for walks in her neighborhood. While no longer golfing in her later life, she enjoyed playing mini golf with her children and grandchildren, and of course, usually beat them all. She loved to play cards with her children and enjoyed playing Mahjong with her daughter and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jackie (Terry) Lambe of Dubuque, Iowa, and Jeff Harrison of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren: Stevie, Emma, Lucie, and Nick Lambe.

Diane is survived by a sister, Carol Ewer Peters of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts and a brother, Alfred E (Tippy) Ewer Jr of Cape Coral, Florida; nieces and nephew, Page (Bill) Temple; Robin (Jimmy) Parillo, Douglas C Peters, Lisa Murray, and Jen (Murray) Hornaday. Diane was preceded in death by her Father, Alfred Ewer and her mother, Ruth Taylor Ewer. She is also survived by her special sweetheart, Hubert Holcombe.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 17th 5-7 PM at McAlister-Smith funeral home on James Island Folly Rd. Charleston, SC. There will also be a viewing and words spoken on Wednesday, December 22nd from 9-11 AM at JJ Shepherd Funeral home in Kingston, MA followed immediately by a burial at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury, MA.
