Donald P. Wight, 71, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on January 3, 2019. He was born on December 20, 1947 in Belleville, Illinois, son of Roberta Hollon and Paul Wight.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Voegtle (Hollon); sister, Eileen Wight; grandparents; and stepfather, Louis Voegtle.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wight of Goose Creek, South Carolina; Sons, Daniel Wight and Matthew Wight; two stepsons, Michael and Kevin Karraker; and eight grandchildren.
Donald served for over 20 years in the US Navy and loved his family and country. He enjoyed collecting coins and old clocks. He also belonged to the VFW and The Order of the Moose Lodge.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Goose Creek, SC. A Rite of Committal will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Beaufort National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society and to the Diabetic Society.
