Elizabeth Ann 'Liz' Hartley (Fiori)

August 9, 1956 — February 8, 2014

Elizabeth Fiori Hartley passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on the morning of Feb. 8, 2014, of a brain aneurysm. She is survived by her sons Cale and Graham and her husband Alan; her sister Tina McClain and husband Brett McClain and their children Kellen and Marissa of Mt. Pleasant; her brother Michael Fiori and wife Ellen Fiori and their sons Carson and Nicholas of Charlotte N.C.; and her parents Nick and Betty Fiori of Fairmont, W.V. Liz was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y. on Aug. 9, 1956. She grew up in Fairmont, W.V., moved to Charleston in 1980, and had lived on James Island since 1990. She worked for several years in the office of Harborview Elementary School and is fondly remembered by many of the former students and teachers there. Most recently Liz was employed at Hyams Garden and Accent Store, where her excellent taste, love of decorating, and winning personality was a great asset. She loved her work, especially at Christmas, her favorite time of year. Liz was a loving mother and wife, and will always be remembered by family and friends for her wit, intelligence, and utter devotion to those she loved. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Historic Charleston Foundation at www.historiccharleston.org. Mrs. Hartley’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, JAMES ISLAND CHAPEL.
