Eric John Elj

Eric John Elj, 50, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Goose Creek, passed away, January 26, 2017. Born in Great Lakes, Illinois, he was the son of Howard Elj, Sr. and Helen Elj. Eric graduated from Goose Creek High School and then served in the Navy/Reserves for 17 years. He later moved to Orlando, where he worked for Disney and was currently working in security for Marriott Resorts. Some of his talents include performing with several theater companies across South Carolina and Florida and cartooning. He was even an editorial cartoonist for a local Goose Creek paper many years ago. He is survived by his mother, Helen Elj of Goose Creek; father, Howard Elj, Sr. of North Charleston; sister, Maria Elj of Goose Creek; brothers, Howard Elj, Jr. and wife Noreen of Cottageville, Christopher Elj of Baltimore, MD and Jason Elj of Elkin, NC; niece, Teresa Elj; nephew, Brady Estes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek. A reception will follow in the church community center. Expressions of sympathy can be submitted or viewed online at www.mcalister-smith.com.
