Estelle Christina Logan

Mrs. Estelle C. Logan passed at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday evening, November 6, 2021. She was 85 years old. Estelle was married to the late Francis P. Logan. She had two daughters, Patricia and the late Barry Howell, of Greer, SC and Linda and the late Michael Lines of Florence, SC. Other survivors are six grandchildren; Christina Willard-Logan, Logan Howell, Tyler Howell, Jacob Lines, Lucas (Chelsea) Howell, and Hayden Lines. Estelle had one great grandchild: Canaan Howell.

Estelle was born on October 15, 1936 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Dietrich Calvin Groffel and Estelle Werner Groffel. Brothers deceased are William Groffel and Charles (Pat) Groffel.

In 1956, at the age of 19, Estelle met and soon married Tech Sargent Francis P. Logan (her sweetheart of 62 years). She served as a loyal and selfless Air Force wife, for 22 years and was stationed many places with her husband and daughters. Her unfailing support and understanding helped to make possible her husband's lasting contribution to the Nation.

After retiring from the Air Force, Estelle and Fran moved back to James Island, S.C.. Estelle's children were older, so she decided to enter the work force. She worked at several different jobs…ABC Awnings, Barbara Lee Crafts, and Piece Goods.

She was an avid golfer who won many tournaments. She was on a bowling team for years and loved it. Estelle was very talented. She enjoyed drawing and painting in oils, watercolors and she did beautiful ceramics. She knitted and was a member of three knitting clubs. She loved her knitting buddies! Estelle loved participating in any kinds of crafts. She was amazingly gifted in creativity.

Estelle was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She enjoyed going to the American Legion, "The Club", for breakfast on Sunday and The V.F.W. for Wing Night and Bingo, to socialize with her friends, especially Georgia Lacson. Estelle was a dedicated member of Nativity Catholic Church for over 50 years, as well as an auxiliary member of the American Legion and VFW.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, November 11 from 6-8 PM, with the funeral Friday, November 12, at 1 PM, both at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home and Cremation, 337 Folly Road, James Island, S.C. 29412.

Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, S.C. 29412, directly after the funeral. Pallbearers are Estelle's Grandsons; Logan Howell, Tyler Howell, Jacob Lines, Lucas Howell, and Hayden Lines. All are welcome to attend the celebration of Estelle's life.
