Helen Todd West

Helen Todd West of Mount Pleasant and formerly of Sullivan's Island passed away peacefully on December 12, 2014. Mrs. West was born July 3, 1923 on Sullivan's Island to Howard Todd and Ottile Johanna Maria Helfrich Todd. She was educated at Sullivan's Island School and Memminger School, and was employed at the U. S. Army Depot in Charleston. In 1951 she married Harley West, Jr., also of Sullivan's Island. They raised their four children on Sullivan's Island and at Stella Maris Catholic Church. Mr. West died in 1984. Her family includes her daughters Christine West Pateracki (John) and Helen Todd West, both of Mount Pleasant; her sons Timothy H. West (Mary) of Mount Pleasant and the Reverend H. Gregory West, JCL, of Daniel Island; her brother H. Michael Todd of Seattle, Washington; her sister Hazel Todd Thomas of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her sister Vivian Todd Bonnoitt died in 2010. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Catholic Church on Sullivan's Island at a later date. Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that gifts be made to the Building Fund of Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 885 Island Park Drive, Suite A, Daniel Island, SC 29492.
