James Grayson Ogier III

James Grayson Ogier III, 69, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. He was born on Monday, January 29, 1945, in Macon, GA, a son of the late Cecilia Vaughan Ogier Lewis and James G. Ogier, Jr. Jim graduated from Camden Military Academy and attended University of South Carolina. He was a Non-Destructive Testing Instructor at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, and retired from Civil Service, Department of Navy. Jim was a member of the Charleston Rifle Club and a former Mason. He enjoyed boating, fishing, target shooting, gardening, bowling, and most of all socializing with friends. He never met a stranger. His family remembers him as friendly, fun-loving, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Jim adored his children. Jim is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kathleen Chandler Ogier, of Charleston, SC; five sons: James GC. Ogier, IV and his wife, Tamara, of Atlanta, GA; Patrick Ogier of Summerville, SC; James Ryan Ogier of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Eric Clinton Ogier of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Charles B. Young of Charleston, SC; two daughters: Lisa Ogier Herman and her husband, Stephen, of Marietta, GA and Tanna R. Riggins of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren and many cousins. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Chapel of McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 6, 2014, in the Chapel of McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley, with Father Marshall Huey officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Old St. Andrew's Parish Church Cemetery.
