Jeannie M. Chambless

Mrs. Jeannie M. Chambless, 69, of Charleston and wife of Robert “Bob” Chambless, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017.
Jeannie Chambless was born on April 16, 1948 in Phoenix, Alabama to the late Guy and Nora Mitchell. She was a mother to all and a doting grandmother. Her family will remember her as a woman of faith who was kind and compassionate. She was a long time member of James Island Baptist Church, serving as director of the preschool and Mother’s Morning Out programs. Her love for children included providing home daycare for over 30 years to hundreds of James Island children.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, survivors include her son, Robert “Dooley” Chambless (Caressa) of Waxhaw, NC; her daughter, Michelle Chambless (David Yoda) of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Mitchell, Kenji, and Seiji; and great-grandchildren, Zoey and Emma Kate. She is also survived by her adopted families, the McGuiness’s, the Hood’s, the Colna’s, the Caron's and the Presnell's.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappoo Drive, Charleston, SC 29412. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464.
