John Henry Lewellen Sr.

John Henry Lewellen, 73, of Charleston, died March 23, 2016. Born in Dillon, SC, he was the son of the late James Lewellen, Beatrice and Ryan Smoak, his step-father. John grew up in Yonges Island and later joined the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. He retired after a career in property management. He is survived by his son, John H. Lewellen, Jr. of Summerville and his children, Angel Lewellen, John H. Lewellen, III, Raven Lewellen, Cheyenne Lewellen, Jessejames Lewellen; daughter, Cindy Burbage and husband William of Summerville and their children Erica Barba, William Burbage, Heather Burbage; brothers, George Smoak of Yonges Island, Stedman Smoak of Yonges Island and Ryan Smoak, Jr. of Virginia; sisters, Barbara Ann Lewis of Charleston and Linda Cox of North Carolina; his wife of twenty years, Margaret Lewellen; great grandchildren, Isaiah Gathers, Aaliyah Gathers, Sharia Gathers, Karizmah Gathers, Vanessa Barba, Adeline Barba, and two others on the way. Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 9:30 am MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am. Appropriate funeral attire appreciated. Burial will immediately follow at Beaufort National Cemetery.
