John Moody

John Frank Moody, 62, of Moncks Corner, passed away October 8, 2015. He was born in Oakland, CA to Marise Ethel Moody and the late Frank LeRoy Moody. John was the son of a Navy Pilot and kept the tradition by attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He then served as an Officer on Naval Submarines until 1980. He originally met his wife Kathy of 40 years at church in California. The military brought them to South Carolina, where they built a home and family. John’s career was diverse in which he ran his own computer consulting business and served as the Financial Manager for Pointe North Community Church and then the Lowcountry Pregnancy Center. Friends know him as compassionate, self-less, and a giving confidant. He used his professional expertise to serve and help others in need. His family knows him for being goal oriented to ensure he was continuously creating memories. He is survived by his wife Kathy; sons, Nate Moody and his wife Carman of Daniel Island; Steven Moody, currently stationed at Ft. Riley, KS and his fiancée Katie Johnson of Louisville, KY; his 92 year old mother, Marise Moody of North Charleston; sister, Nancy Mitchel and her husband Don; nephews, Sean and his wife Kristel and David Mitchel all from Alaska. A gathering of friends and family will be held, Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 am in Pointe North Community Church, 110 US-52 Bypass Moncks Corner, SC 29461. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pointe North Community Church New Building Expansion, 110 Bilo Drive Suite C, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
