Judy Alice Pezanowski
May 26, 1947 — April 28, 2017
Judy Alice Pezanowski, 69, of Isle of Palms, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior, and to rejoin her husband, Deacon Pez, on Friday, April 28, 2017.
She was born on May 26, 1947 in Millen, Georgia to the late Edward and Launa Dickerson.
Judy graduated Screven County High School in Sylvania, GA and then attended Armstrong College in Savannah, Georgia. While attending college she met her beloved husband of 50 years, Deacon “Pez” Pezanowski. After working in the public sector for several years Judy found her calling and began serving the parish of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church. Her journey evolved as a dedicated and loving church secretary, and then grew into many fulfilling roles with over 36 years of service. Judy’s final role at Stella Maris was to serve as the Director of Inreach Ministries. During her tenure at Stella Maris Judy obtained a degree in Theology. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include a son, Tim Pezanowski (Denise); a daughter, Jackie Meade (Shorty); grandchildren, Joshua Meade (Nicole), Ashley Pezanowski and Ryan Meade; brothers, Harold Dickerson (Brenda) and Jimmy Dickerson (Linda); a sister, Lynn Dickerson; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Deacon “Pez” Pezanowski; a great-grandson, Camden Meade; a brother, Melvin Dickerson and a sister, Jean Pye.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Stella Maris Parish Hall. A Vigil Wake will begin at 5PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10:00AM at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, 1204 Middle St., Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina, 29482. A Rite of Committal will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, Stella Maris Catholic Church, and The St. Vincent DePaul Society.
