Judy Annette Jones

Judy Annette Jones, 77 of Mt. Pleasant, SC went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2017.
She was born on August 8th, 1939 in Hastings Michigan to Willard and Kathlyn Lawrence and was the oldest of 5 children. After marrying Roger Jones in 1960, they moved to Marshall, Michigan where she resided until 1981. Having been divorced in 1979, she followed her dreams in 1981 by moving to Florida where she lived until 2011. Since that time, she has lived in the Charleston, SC area to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Judy’s passions in life included traveling, anything by the water, walking and reading. Although, her most important passions were her family and friends, and giving to others. She never knew a stranger and was the first to reach out and help with anything and anyone in need. She volunteered for Cystic Fibrosis foundation, Newcomers and the Crime Center. She never thought of herself first, which was one of her greatest gifts. Her children were counted as some of her best friends and she was fortunate to have been able to travel to many exciting places around the world with them. One of the most memorable trips was a trip to Thailand during which she got to ride an elephant. She was so excited and kept repeating over and over again with a huge grin on her face, “I’m 72 and I am riding an elephant.”
While children have always been such an important part of her life, she never had any grandchildren of her own until she was blessed with becoming a grandmother 5 years ago. Even while suffering with dementia, she never forgot who her grandchildren were, and they would always bring a smile to her face.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Willard and Kate Lawrence and her brother Dick Lawrence. She is survived by her sister Joanne Hermann of Damascus, Maryland, her brothers Donald Lawrence of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Stephen Lawrence of Muskegon, Michigan, her sons Jim Jones of Marshall, Michigan and Bob (Agnieszka) Jones of Mt. Pleasant, SC, her daughter Karen Jones of Mt. Pleasant, SC, her grandchildren Alex and Maja Jones of Mt. Pleasant, SC and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation in celebration her life on Saturday April 29th form 3-6 at The Cottages of Charleston Harbor, 16 Patriots Point Rd. Cottage # 5, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
