Karen Lee Ilgenfritz

Karen Lee Ilgenfritz, 71, of Goose Creek, passed away April 7, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Braddock, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lena Truxal. Karen was married to her high school sweetheart Jack for fifty two beautiful years. During her life, Karen was a child care provider at the Menriv Park Child Care Center, also a Manager of both the Incredible Chocolate Chip Cookie Company and Mrs. Fields Cookie Company in the old Charlestown Square Mall. Karen’s most recent employment was with the Hallmark Card Company as a Territory Assistant, retiring in 2007. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Karen had many friends around the country since she accompanied her husband during his twenty five years of U.S. Naval Service and fulfilled many duties asked of her as an Ombudsman and Command Master Chief’s wife. Karen is survived by her beloved husband, John E. “Jack” Ilgenfritz; daughter, Donna Lynn Taylor of Goose Creek; three sons, David M. Ilgenfritz of Kingsland, GA, Robert A. “Bobby” Ilgenfritz and wife Yvonne of North Charleston and John E. Ilgenfritz, Jr. and wife Amy of Goose Creek; grandchildren, Robby (Taryn), Kyle (Anna) and Zack (Carolyn) Ilgenfritz, Jeffrey Taylor, Jenna (P.J.) Shebelski, John E., III, Michael, Carey and Cody Ilgenfritz; great grandchildren, Lily, Kynlee, Jackson and Eli Ilgenfritz. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Linda Abruzerie of North Huntingdon, PA and Debra (Ken) Gries of Champion, PA. Karen was also predeceased by her grandson, Jason Michael Taylor. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Goose Creek.
