The family of Lila Kay Rapchick, spouse of Ted Rapchick, sadly announces the death of their beloved matriarch on Thursday, August 5, 2021, with the family at her bedside in her home.

Lila Kay, "Sissy", was born the daughter of H. Spurgeon and Eliza McMakin Mims on September 28, 1944 at the family home in Bethera, SC.

Lila Kay was a devoted mother and homemaker, not taking employment outside of their home until she had sent the youngest child to college. A large part of her duties included transporting the children to their various events. When she finally entered the workforce, she became a familiar face at the postal substation at the Harborview Rite Aide, Kerr, CVS drug store, and became a pharmacy technician under the tutelages of Jim Hintz and Dale Chandler.

In addition to her parents, Sissy was predeceased by brothers, Franklin "Bubba" Shaw and Payden Shaw, as well as sisters, Naomi Johnson Redden and Ila Mae Sayles (Jerome).

She was united in marriage to Ted Rapchick on August 27, 1960, in Jamestown, SC. They became the parents of Stephen F. (Maria), Lisa M. Croucher, Linda H. Brifnek (Mike), and Anthony T. (Megan), who survive. Also, surviving are grandchildren: Michael Brifnek (Amanda) of Tampa, FL; Nick and Erin Croucher of Charleston, SC; Neil and Lainey Rapchick of Richmond, VA and Christopher Rapchick of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; great-grandchildren: Molly and Hudson Michael Brifnek of Tampa, FL;
sisters, Evelyn Shaw Statz and Ethel Shaw Keller, brother, Hart Mims, and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 106 W Erie Ave, Folly Beach, SC 29439. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
