Lillian M. Kirby

Lillian M Kirby, 89, of Union, South Carolina, passed away on April 16, 2019.
To know her was to love her! Lillian was one of the most selfless people you would ever meet. She always had the interests of others in front of hers. There is absolutely no way to summarize this amazing lady’s journey on this page, however, we will bring you the highlights!
Born in Charleston, SC on March 2, 1930, to Blanche Marie Martin & Allen Foy Martin, Lillian was the oldest of 4 siblings. Lillian graduated St. Andrews High School in 1945. During her time with us, her last job was at St. Francis Xavier Hospital where she also retired from in 1983. Lillian was, in our opinion, a master gardener, she could grow anything! She enjoyed reading, going to the beach, traveling, and was a master of “snappy comebacks”, even enjoyed playing hide & go seek at the age of 89! She never let anything slow her down!
Lillian is preceded in death by her (husband) Emmet Frances Kirby, (son) Earl Jones Jr, (brother) Randall Martin, (brother) Gean Martin. She is survived by (sister) Naomi Ollic, of Summerville, SC, (son) Timothy Michael Jones & wife, Sara J. Jones, of Union, SC, (granddaughter) Shannon Meredith Held & husband William Dustin Held of Inman, SC, (grandchildren) Kaylee Held, Caleb Held, Hayden Held, & Jaxon Held.
The family will receive friends on April 20, 2019 from 11:00AM to 12:00AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00PM to 1:00PM on April 20, 2019 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. The burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 406 Ft. Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
