Lornedale M. Nelson

June 29, 1961 — November 29, 2018

Lornedale M. Nelson was born to Joseph Ronald Gabriel Hope and Glysis E. Nelson on June 29, 1961 in Georgetown, Guyana.

Lorne served in the United States Navy, and received a honorable discharge in January 1983. During his service, he received the Humanitarian Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Following discharge from the U.S. Navy, his career began as a Merchant Marine where he served for 24 years. His love of the ocean started as a young man on the fishing boats in Trinidad, while in the Guyana National Service.

Lorne prided himself on giving back; compassionately,. twice a year he would prepare meals  with his family for the homeless. Once in the summer and for thanksgiving. He passionately believed in helping people if you are able.

He enjoyed playing soccer and listening to all genres of music but his love was reggae. He educated himself through reading and enjoyed working with his hands.

He leaves to cherish his memories a son Shawn Cummings and two daughters Glysis Nelson and Latoya Horsted; his grandchildren Amaru and Nia Cummings; his siblings, Compton (Avis), Roy, George, Terrence, Megan, Laird (Margaret), Loysden and Simone (Thomas).
