Louise "Wesie" Rush Beckmann, 87, of Summerville, SC, a homemaker and wife of the late Cecil Beckmann married 52 years passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
She was born on May 24th, 1933 in Bamberg, SC to the late James and Viola Rush. After their deaths at a young age, she and her 2 brothers and 4 sisters were raised by their special aunt, Lalla Folk, in Olar, SC.
Apart from her parents, aunt, and husband, Louise was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters: J. W. Rush, Leighton Rush, Lillian Otto, and Lucille Mitchum.
She is survived by 2 sisters: Ruth Riley of Summerville, SC and Nettie Davis of Manchester, MD. She is also survived by her two special nieces: Maria Williams (Dempsey) of Summerville, SC, and Michelle Long of Jacksonville, FL; 2 special grand-nieces, Sophia Williams and Brittney Long; and a special grand-nephew, Trevor Long, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by numerous special friends who have come into her life along the way.
Louise graduated from Olar High School in Olar, SC then moved to Charleston, SC and worked for S.C. National Bank for 14 years. She then married Cecil Beckmann, enjoying 52 years of marriage until his death in March of 2018. Louise and her husband lived in numerous states along the east and west coasts during their marriage.
Louise enjoyed cooking, traveling, antiquing at estate sales, reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loved her husband, Cecil, and missed him dearly the last 3 years. They both will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends and family Monday, February 22, 2021 from 5-7PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James, Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 11AM in the McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel (Goose Creek). Entombment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, #103, North Charleston, SC 29406 or Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 W. 3rd S. Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
