Michael Evan Perez

Michael Evan Perez, 64, of Moncks Corner, died October 3, 2015. He was born in Binghamton, NY, to George Perez and the late Mildred Perez. Mike attended the State University of New York at Brockport. He completed two years of graduate work at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Mike began his career with the American Red Cross in Albany, NY, followed by his time as a Deputy Director of the Central Blood Bank in Pittsburgh, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Blood Banks in Maryland/DC area. He returned to the American Red Cross, before making a career change fifteen years ago, when he began a new career in record management with Pierce Leahy and Iron Mountain as an Account Service Manager, handling clients with large contracts. Although he had many career titles, his most important title was as a loving husband, brother, son, and uncle… not to mention dad to his two beautiful adoring cats, Faith and Hilly, who followed him around like a Pied Piper. Michael was a creative gardener, who received many compliments from neighbors and people passing the house. He was an avid daily reader of online newspapers, especially The New York Times and The Washington Post. Mike’s favorite sports teams were the Giants and Yankees as well as the Baltimore Ravens, which he and his father enjoyed discussing at length. Mike volunteered at The White House Office of Correspondence, in the Old Executive Office Building during the Clinton Administration. One of his most memorable activities was working as a volunteer with Helen on both of Clinton’s Inaugural Galas for both terms of the Clinton Administration. Mike belonged to St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, where he served as a volunteer. Before leaving Maryland, Mike served on the Parish Council at St. Joseph’s in Odenton. He is survived by his wife Helen Beebe-Perez; his father, George Perez and his wife Marjory; sisters, Jean Masters of Virginia and Rita (Brent) Snyder of New York; brothers, Arnold Perez of New York, Dennis (Theresa) Perez of Virginia, and John (Emily) Perez of New York; nieces and nephews Andrea (Fred) Mitchell of Virginia, Richie Masters of Virginia, Hollie (Jeff) Joseph of New York, Mary Perez of Georgia, Katie (Rob) Brown of New York, Rachel (Jim) Volpe of New York, Brent (Yvonne) Snyder Jr. of Texas, Leisja (Dan) Wood of New York, Aaron (Sara) Snyder of New York, Dr. Kristina Perez of Florida, and Allie Perez of Virginia, Bryan (Su) Perez of California, Kurtis (Michele) Perez of New York, Joshua Perez of New York, August Perez of New York, and Austen Perez of New York; brothers and sisters in law, Mary Anne (Cobey) Shelton of Georgia, Dan (Barb) Beebe of New York, and Tom (Kathy) Beebe of Arizona; nieces and nephews- in- law, Wesley Shelton, Amy (Dan) Tambs Kokkos, Erin Tambs, Allison (Jamie) Huver, Dana (Max) Delorm, Matthew Beebe, James Beebe, and Andrea Beebe. Besides his mother, he is predeceased by his brother Roger Perez, brother-in-law, Dick Masters, and sister-in-law, Linda Tambs. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, October 7, 2015, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home Goose Creek Chapel. The Rosary will be at 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:00 am, in St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville. Immediately following, a luncheon will be served at Oscars Restaurant, 207 W. 5th N. Street, Summerville, SC. Arrangements entrusted to McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 869 ST.
