Mildred Cox, 101, of Charleston passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.
Mrs. Cox was born on November 2, 1915 in Montgomery Alabama to the late Austin Roper and Cora Fuller Roper. She retired from Abraham and Straus in Brooklyn, NY where she was an office manager. Mildred enjoyed gardening and needle craft. Her family will remember her as fiercely independent.
Survivors include her children, Viola Jerussi, Russell Cox, Iris Cox and Maxine Lettieri, all of Charleston; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2017, her birthday, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel. The family will have a time of visitation after the service.
