Nolie B. Grooms

Nolie C. Grooms, 88, of North Charleston, SC, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was born on Saturday, July 4, 1925, in Cordesville, SC, to the late Piccola C. Baxley and the late Clifford A Baxley. Along with her parents, Nolie was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Ernest Grooms, Sr. Nolie was a loving mother to her children: Georgia Douglas of SC; Ernest Grooms, Jr. (Sandy) of SC; Carolyn Jannuzzi (Tony) of CO; Raymond Grooms of SC; and Gary Grooms of SC; and her adopted daughter, Sam Wilds (Jim) of SC. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2014, from 5PM to 7PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414 . A funeral service will be held at Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church on Monday, January 27, 2014, at 11:00AM, with Reverend Todd Sutton officiating.
