Ray G. Brown, 71, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, after fighting a courageous battle with a long illness. He was born on Saturday, June 12, 1943 in Moultrie, GA, a son of the late Cleveland Brown and the late Mary Tucker Brown. He served in the US Air Force, having received numerous awards and citations. After his service, he worked in electronics and security for the US government. Ray loved fishing, watching black and white western movies, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, David Brown and one brother, Kenneth Brown. Ray is survived by his wife of 23 years, Linda Tuten Brown of Charleston, SC; one daughter, Cindy Casey and her husband, Cliff, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one son, Darrell Brown and his wife, Dawn, of Land O'Lakes, FL; five grandchildren: Collin Casey, Caitlin Casey, Emily Brown, Ashley Brown and Ethan Brown; one sister, Linda Goolsby and her husband, Ernie, of TX and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel, with a memorial service at 7:00pm. Reverend Jimmy Sanders will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Amedysis Hospice, 1027 Physicians Drive, Suite 240, Charleston, SC 29414. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Ainslee Freeh, and Telitha, Angela, and Reverend Jimmy from Amedisys Hospice for their special care.
