Richard Charles 'Ar-cee' Spofford III

Richard C. Spofford, III, 26, of North Charleston passed away July 12, 2014. Born in Naples, Italy, he is the son of Iluminada Lee Manosa Spofford and Richard Spofford, Jr. He graduated from Fort Dorchester High School, where he was a member of the AFROTC, Color Guard Commander and Squadron Commander. Ar-cee served his country in the United States Air Force, serving in Afghanistan. He was a C- 17 Maintenance Scheduler and also worked for Trident Security Services. Ar-cee loved being with his family and friends. He will be remembered for being able to light up a room and his joy of gaming. He is survived by his parents, Iluminada Spofford and Richard Spofford, Jr. of North Charleston; two brothers, SSgt. Salvador Donida and wife Marilou of New Jersey and Shaun-Ray Donida and wife Janice of North Charleston; three nieces, Stephanie, Katelyn and Breille; nephew, Shaun; grandfather, Richard Spofford, Sr. of Walterboro; grandmother, Diorita Maregmen of Philippines. Ar-cee is also survived by many aunts, uncles and family members. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Joint Base Charleston Air Base Chapel. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville. The family will receive friends prior to service from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. in the Air Base Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gregory M. Hirsch Heart Foundation, 304 Farnham Avenue, Lodi, NJ 07644.
