Richard DeWitt Byars, 91 of Charleston, Husband of Patsy Ruth Washington Byars, for 71 years, entered into eternal rest on July 15, 2021.
Born on January 16, 1930 in Rock Hill, SC, Richard was a son of Annie Mae Wright and Marvin DeWitt Byars.
Richard was a member of United States Navy and also retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. Besides his wife Patsy, Richard is survived by his daughters, Donna Blish of Charleston SC and Teresa Ivey (Dickie) of Charleston, SC; son, Michael Byars; grandchildren, Christina (Jon), Anthony (Melanie), Carrie (Jason) and Erin. He also has 8 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00am at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be sent to: The American Cancer Association.
