Rosa Lee Whaley Davis

June 14, 1953 — January 13, 2020

On January 13, 2020, our loving mother Rosa Lee Whaley Davis, 66, of Walterboro, SC entered into eternal rest. Rosey, as she was affectionately known, was born on June 14, 1953 in Goose Creek, SC to the late Eva Whaley Mack, and beloved daughter to the late Rosa Lee Adams Whaley and Charlie Whaley. She was the fourth of nine children.

Rosey graduated from Goose Creek High School in 1971. Her first job was at WPAL Radio in Charleston, SC followed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC, and a variety of other jobs until settling in as a dispatcher with Norfolk Southern Railroad in North Charleston, SC. She retired from Norfolk Southern in 1995.  In 2007, she decided retirement was not for her and decided to go back to school to become a long haul truck driver.  She loved to drive on the open road and was blessed to be able to travel through all of the lower 48 states. She would always say it's "Just the Lord and me" out here.

Rosey loved her children, grandchildren, and her family. She taught us how to love one another and to trust in the Lord. She had an open heart and an open door. She would help anyone who came across her path in a time of need. She was a sweet woman. Truly one of God's angels on Earth.

Rosey was preceded in death by her sister, Robisina Staggers, and brothers Benjamin Whaley and Herbert Whaley.

Rosey is survived by her four children, Kimberlee Whaley, Ebonee Davis, Faith Davis (Crystal), Charlie Whaley Myers (Jalessa); siblings, Rev. Albert Mack (Luretha), Arthur Mack (Jestine), Daniel Mack (Wilhemania), Melvin Mack, David Mack III, and Noah Mack; grandchildren, Kelsee Whaley, Charles Johnson III, Jaleah Anderson, Charlie Myers Jr., Cadence Myers, Caricea Pugh, Jenesis Myers, Jayla Myers, Derick Sinclair, Jr., and great grandchild, Jade McElveen.
Rosey also leaves behind her dear friend, James David Stewart and sister-friends Elaine Barnett, Delores Rickenbacker, Synovia Irving, and Johnnie Mae Mosley; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 9:30 AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Goose Creek, SC. The burial will immediately follow at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Goose Creek, SC.
