Ruth F. Smith

Mrs. Ruth F. Smith, 95, widow of the late Raymond C. Smith, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Ruth Smith was born on August 3, 1920 in Ravenel, SC to the late Barney and Sally Fox. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother and was devoted to her family. Ruth was an active member of John Wesley UMC for over 60 years. Survivors include her 2 sons, Ray (Irene) Smith and Ken (Teresa) Smith, both of Charleston; 2 grandchildren, Kenny and Julia Smith; 2 brothers, Leon Fox of Wilmington, NC and Tally Fox of Richmond, VA and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her grandson Jeff Jeffords and her brothers and sisters, Luther Fox, Nelson Fox, Nolan Fox, Virgil Fox, Lylie Fox Martin, Ivy Fox Martin and Velotha Fox Muckenfuss. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at John Wesley UMC, 626 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC 29407. The family will receive friends at 10am at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to John Wesley UMC or Epworth Children’s Home, 2900 Millwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29205.
