Ruth Mitchum Tanner

Ruth Mitchum Tanner, 80, of Summerville, passed away May 25, 2014. Born in Bethera, SC, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Laura Mitchum. Ruth loved fishing and going to her grandchildren’s football and baseball games. She was a diehard Carolina Gamecocks fan. She is survived by her son, James Burnette of Summerville; two daughters, Rhonda Lynn Burnette of Newbern, NC and Pamela Elizabeth Burnette of Summerville; three sisters, Doris M. Godley of Hampton, Ann M. Mize of Goose Creek and Deborah M. Brown of Summerville; two brothers, David Michael Mitchum of Goose Creek and Aubrey D. Mitchum of Summerville. Ruth is also survived by eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
