Samuel Hewitt

Samuel Edward Hewitt, 80, of Goose Creek, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015. He was born in Dalton, GA to the late AJ and Cecil Hewitt. He retired from the United States Navy and later was an Electrician for the Naval Shipyard. Sam enjoyed fishing with his daughters, camping, and LOVED to eat sardines and Oreos. His best buddy was his dog Sydonnah, who will deeply miss her owner. Sam was a man that took care of friends as his own family. He was always ready to give the shirt off his back. He is survived by his wife, Ollie Hewitt; daughters, Tonya (Ralph) Higgins of Goose Creek, Rene (Charles) Hystad of Virginia Beach, Tweela (Ed) Vaught of Dallas, GA, and Trina (Future Meathead) Hewitt of Goose Creek; sister, Kitty Felker of Laurel Woods, GA, James Hewitt of Central Hatchey, GA and John Hewitt of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren, Heather, Brittany, Cassie, Emily, Randy, Krista, Abi, Corey, Lindsey, and Morgan; great-grandchildren, Jadain, Zaryn, Zaynah, Riley, Lella, Liam, and Jack; and many other beloved family members. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 12:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Goose Creek chapel. A burial will follow at Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens in Strawberry SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors.
