Sandra Gibson Ackerman

January 29, 1962 — April 17, 2014

Sandra Gibson Ackerman, 52, of Goose Creek, passed away April 17, 2014. Born in Summerville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hoot and Naomi Gibson and wife of William Christopher Ackerman. Sandra enjoyed playing softball, bingo and loved being with her grandchildren. She was an avid Carolina Gamecocks fan, who enjoyed watching games with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of thirty three years, William Christopher Ackerman; two sons, Chris “Bucky” Ackerman and wife Angie of Summerville and Stevie Ackerman and wife Allyson of Summerville; daughter, Misty Driggers and husband David of Goose Creek; four brothers, Floyd Gibson and wife Liz of West Ashley, Lloyd Gibson and wife Rena of Florida, Boyd Gibson of Moncks Corner and Randy Gibson and wife Tammy of Jedburg; Father and Mother-in-Law, W.C. and Arnetta Ackerman of Moncks Corner. Sandra is also survived by her loving grandchildren, who knew her as Umaw, Olivia, Landon, Little D, Evelyn, Easton, Reagan and Bennie. She also leaves behind her dog, “ZZ” and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 500 Taylor Street, Suite 101, Columbia, SC 20201.
