Tina Michael Thelen Barthelemy

Tina Michael Thelen Barthelemy, age 68, of Summerville, SC, entered the Lord’s embrace on Sunday, November 18, 2018, after a short struggle with cancer.
Tina, daughter of the late Walter F. Thelen and Marie A. Scruggs Thelen, was born on October 6, 1950 in Charleston, SC.
Tina graduated from Hanahan High School in 1968 and received her master’s degree from Valdosta State University. She then went on to a career with the Department of Homeland Security at FLETC in Brunswick, GA and also Charleston, SC. After her retirement, Tina unselfishly gave her time to neighbors, friends, and community. She really enjoyed getting together to play cards or dominos. Her friends will always remember her infectious laugh. Mema, as she was known to her grandchildren, especially loved taking long walks and trips to new and wonderful places with her husband, Larry, and her two grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” K. Barthelemy III, whom she married on March 30, 1974; son, Lawrence K. Barthelemy IV (Liese); grandchildren, Lawrence “LB” K. Barthelemy, V and Kaylee Barthelemy, all of Greenville, SC; sister, Paula Ann Griffard; and twin brother, Walter “Buddy” Thelen, both of Charleston, SC. Tina was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Francis Barr.
Tina will be remembered as a caring, loving, and giving, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and special friend. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Ave. Goose Creek SC29445.
