Vera H Garner

Vera H. Garner, 93, of Johns Island, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. She was born on Friday, July 14, 1922, in St. George, SC to the late Annie Smoak Hutto and the late James “ Jim” Hutto. Vera enjoyed working in her garden, canning, cooking and baking. She especially loved spending time with her family. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Beside her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Garner; four brothers; four sisters and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Joan Brownlee (Sam) of Johns Island, SC; two sons: James Albert Garner (Johanna) and Johnson Carey Garner (Valerie); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, all of Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2015, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel.
