Vickie Riddle Erskine

Vickie Riddle Erskine, 61, of Goose Creek passed away July 20, 2014. Vickie was born February 20, 1953 in Savannah, GA to the late Archer Anderson Riddle and Marie Stelianos Marlowe. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Armstrong State College and her Master’s degree from Georgia Southern. She’s been in the education field for 39 years, starting in Savannah, specializing in early childhood development, speech therapy, and special needs children. The last 14 years, she has taught in Berkeley County at Boulder Bluff Elementary School, most recently, as a Curriculum Coach. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church in Savannah, GA. Vickie was a die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan, loved the beach, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, crafts, and cooking. Her family remembers her as a faithful wife, mother, sister, and “Yia yia”. She was a wonderful role model to her family, co-workers, and students and inspired all to be the best they could possibly be. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Dale Erskine of Goose Creek. Three daughters, Shawn Taylor and her husband Jason of Whitmire SC, Chelsea Erskine of Newberry SC, and Haley Erskine of Newberry SC; grandchildren, Jenna, Kaitlyn, and Miabella; one sister, Susan Hampton of Roswell GA; two brothers, Bryan Riddle of Jacksonville FL and Garry Joe Riddle of Savannah GA; one niece, Marlowe Riddle of Savannah GA and one nephew Robbie Hampton of Marietta GA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Arthur Stelianos and her brother-in-law, Donnie Hampton. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in the chapel of McAlister-Smith Funeral Home Goose Creek. A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home Goose Creek.
