Virginia Maureen Gallagher

Virginia M Gallagher MT. PLEASANT--Virginia Maureen Gallagher, (89), of Mt. Pleasant, the widow of John J. Gallagher, died 26 March 2014. Born February 16, 1925 in Brooklyn New York she was the daughter of Rita and John Phillips. Virginia was an educator and taught kindergarten at North Charleston Elementary School. She taught during the time frame of 1970-1982. She was a graduate of Notre Dame College in New York and a Parishioner of Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Virginia will be deeply missed and is survived by her two sons, John Joseph Gallagher, Jr. of Houston, TX, and Gary Brian Gallagher of Kingsland, GA; one daughter, Maureen Patricia G. Sharon of Lebanon, Tennessee; one niece, Debora Emily Dale Moncada of Staten Island, NY; six grandchildren, Colleen Patricia Sharon Davenport, Kevin James Sharon, Gary Brian Gallagher, II, Sean Keith Gallagher, Kelly Marie Gallagher Heartsill and James Hyatt Gallagher; six great-grandchildren, Anthony James Sharon, Gabrielle Nicole Sharon, Annabella Rae Sharon, Miles James Davenport, Grace Marie Davenport and Catherine Norine Davenport. The family will receive friends, Monday, March 31, 2014 between the hours of 5:00-7:00 pm at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL, where the Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Christ Our King Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant at 10:30 am. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 269 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401.
