Walter Stanley 'Pez' Pezanowski Jr.

Reverend Walter “Pez” Pezanowski, Jr.,70, of The Isle of Palms, SC went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Saturday October 29, 2016 due to an extended illness. He was the son of the late Mary Walega Pezanowski and the late Walter Stanley Pezanowski Sr. Pez was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Olyphant, PA, and then he joined the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Savannah, Georgia where he met his bride, Judy Pezanowski. They relocated to Charleston, SC 1967. After Serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force he then pursued his professional career as a Data System Analyst at Frost, Johnson, Read and Smith for several years. He then began employment at First Federal of Charleston from where he retired after 32 years as a Senior Application Analyst. In 1990, Pez was ordained as a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church. He lovingly served the people at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Sullivan’s Island for 26 years. Pez loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren on the beach, as well with his extended softball family, which he coached for over 30 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy A. Pezanowski, of Isle of Palms, SC; son, Tim Pezanowski (Denise), of Spruce Head, ME; daughter, Jackie Meade (Shorty), of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Joshua and Ryan Meade and Ashley Pezanowski; sister, Joyce Pezanowski, of Dickson City, PA. He was predeceased by his loving parents and his sister, Rosemary Pezanowski. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29464. Vigil Wake beginning at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan’s Island, SC 29482 on Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
