William B. 'Rip' Cottle

November 21, 1932 — June 30, 2014

William 'Rip' B. Cottle, age 81, of Summerville, SC, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014. Born November 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Owen Cottle and the late Mary Cottle. William retired from the United States Navy as a senior chief petty officer. He was a scratch golfer and an avid fisherman. He never met a stranger. His family will remember him as a charming, kind, loving, and family-oriented man. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Chuck Cottle. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Celia J. Cottle of Summerville; daughter, Celia J. O'Donnell (David) of Goose Creek; son, David Cottle (Liz Gutterson) of Daytona Beach, Fl; and numerous nieces and nephews, who loved him very much. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at All Saints Chapel, Naval Weapons Station, Goose Creek. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to service in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
