William M McDermott

William (Bill) M McDermott, 68, of Goose Creek, was called home on February 9, 2021, with his niece Kendra by his side.

Born on December 16, 1952 in Archbald, Pennsylvania to the late William Francis McDermott and Eleanor Smith McDermott.

Bill was very proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a welder by trade and through this job traveled all over the world including Scotland which he visited many times. He enjoyed scuba diving and was a cave diver. He especially enjoyed diving in the caves in Ginnie Springs, Florida. He loved gardening and sharing his vegetables with his family and neighbors. He grew beautiful flowers and largest tomatoes and cabbages you ever saw. Bill was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased his wife, Kathy and sisters Ann Zwicharowski, Eileen Shirar, and Beverly Newlin.

Surviving are his sisters Mary Harvey, and Peggy Gajkowski (Joe) all from Pennsylvania. In addition to his sisters Bill is survived by numerous nieces' and nephews and very good friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 11am to 12:30pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel, Goose Creek, SC. A graveside service will be held at 1pm immediately following the visitation at Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston, SC.
