Willie H. Chup

June 23, 1927 — April 18, 2015

Billie Chup, widow of Peter Michael Chup, passed away on April 18, 2015 at home with her children by her bedside. She was born on June 23, 1927 in Camden, SC, to the late Malure Price Hames and the late William Reid Hames. Following her graduation from high school, she began her professional career in Columbia, SC. After 35 years of service with Southern Bell Telephone Co., she retired as a business office assistant manager. She and her late husband enjoyed many years of traveling and cruising everywhere and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. She was also a lifetime member of The Telephone Company Pioneers. As a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church, she served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher and her passion for music kept her singing as a longtime church choir member. Everyone knew that her personal life revolved around her family. She was a loving a devoted wife of 51 years to her husband until his untimely death. As a mother, there are no words to express her remarkable life. This was surely her special purpose in this world. Her love was unconditional and reassuring; her understanding was encouraging and compassionate. She is predeceased by her husband, five sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son, Peter Michael Chup, Jr. of Ravenel, SC; two daughters, Andrea C. Dunn of Ravenel, SC and Karen C. McInnes (Peter) of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Althea Burroughs of Simpsonville, SC and Bobbie Ann Truesdale of Columbia, SC; and several nieces and nephews. She now joins her loyal and faithful canine companion, “Mackie”, AKA “The Grand-dog” of the family. A Private graveside services have been planned at Live Oak Memorial. In lieu flowers, contributions may be made to Pet Helpers or Ronald McDonald House. The Family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Southern Care Hospice for every day of their care, especially to Jennifer, her personal nurse and Dr. Marion Cooper.
