Alfred Calafiore

Alfred Calafiore, 76, of Goose Creek, SC and Whippany, NJ; husband to Donna Calafiore for 45 years, entered into eternal rest on October 2, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.


Born on January 25, 1945 in Solarino, Italy, Alfred was a son of the late Salvatore Calafiore and Sebastiana Aparo Calafiore.

Alfred earned a Masters degree from Newark College of Engineering, and was a consultant in the field for most of his life, working for many years in New York City, and many in the Charleston area as well. A devout Catholic, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Creek for over 20 years. Alfred also volunteered at the Seacoast Dream Center, where he started a homeless ministry that touched thousands of lives and is still active and strong 10 years later. He was also a member of the Citizens Climate Lobby, and especially in recent years was quite active as a champion of the environment. When not attending mass or fighting climate change, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Alfred is survived by Donna Calafiore ; son David Calafiore (Ryan); son Jeff Calafiore (Jillian), and their children Jenna, Jonas, Eames, Wells and Marley Calafiore; brothers Robert Calafiore and Sergio Calafiore , along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on October 15, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, 1520 Rifle Range Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

A Prayer Service will follow at 3:00 PM.

Due to the Covid pandemic, the family's preference is that those who are unvaccinated, not attend in person, but join us virtually instead – the service will be live-streamed here on the Funeral Home website.

Burial services will be private.
